My name is Doug Reavis, and I am the founder of the company 4REVS GOAL CHARTS & BOARDS. As a former High School Football Coach of 17 years, I truly believe that motivation is one of the most important aspects of coaching, and through those years, I found that perhaps one of the most effective forms of motivation is that of POSITIVE RECOGNITION. My staff and I, therefore, use to spend countless hours building and drawing our own boards and charts for our players. Though the kids LOVED what we had for them, we often found that not only were we spending many hours away from other important football tasks (or away from our family time), but we also found that our final products were often times not quite as “professional-looking” as we had hoped.
With my children cruising through their teenage years and with college hopefully not too far away for them, my wife and I began contemplating ways to supplement our income. Therefore, in the winter of 2004, we “professionalized” our Charts and Boards and set up at a coaching clinic to see if any other coaches might be interested in our products. It was amazing – we found that there were a bunch of coaches doing exactly what we had been doing – making their own charts. We felt that there was a need for our products – so our company was formed. We named it 4REVS in reference to our humble family of 4 (my wife Denita, son David, daughter Ginny, and myself) who were doing all the producing ourselves. We took on more help from our family with the help of my parents (Ted & Sue Reavis) and my brother, Mike, who has also been a High School Football Coach his entire adult life (even winning a Virginia Division 3 State Championship in 2000).
In the time since our company’s conception, we have since placed our Charts and Boards in almost every state in the country – from State Championship programs to small rural programs with no more than 20 players on the team. In addition, we have become the direct supplier of our large Boards to the company BIGGER FASTER STRONGER, and all of our products are now being sold through DIXIE Sporting Goods (with several more Sporting Goods companies asking us to offer our products to them also).
Regardless, we have had 2 primary goals from the very beginning:
- Provide highly professional looking products
- Offer our products with the best possible service
These were the 2 things I sometimes struggled to find from vendors when I was a Head Coach, and this, therefore, is what we try extremely hard to provide for you.
